MedExpress Clinics Appoints J. Douglass Cates IV, CPA, As Special Consultant to Board of Directors

Augusta, GA. --- MedExpress Clinics, Inc., announced today the appointment of J. Douglass Cates IV, CPA, as a special consultant to MedExpress’s board of directors. Cates is the partner-in-charge of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland’s (CB&H) Augusta/Aiken regional practice. CB&H is one of the largest regional CPA firms headquartered in the Southeast. “We chose Doug because of his extensive experience in providing tax, financial planning and advisory services to businesses in the health care industry,” commented Phil McElhaney, founder of MedExpress.
Cates has more than 25 years of experience with mergers and acquisitions, having assisted clients in buying and selling businesses, and merging medical and professional practices. He also is involved in closely held business consulting and estate planning, physician practice consulting and litigation support.
Cates graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in accounting. For 25 years, he has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of CPAs. He is the past president of the Augusta Chapter of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
