Clinic With New Concept For Health Care Opens

July 2, 2007

MedExpress provides unique service to meet everyday health care needs

EVANS, GA., July 3, 2007 --- MedExpress Clinics, LLC, recently announced plans to open a local medical health clinic. MedExpress offers basic health care services at a low cost and high convenience to customers. No appointment is necessary to get treated for common illnesses like allergies and colds, and minor injuries, and receive routine medical care, like physicals, vaccinations and health screenings. The grand opening for the new medical clinic will be Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on North Belair Road at 400 Town Park Boulevard.

As one of several new retail health clinic companies in the United States, MedExpress is part of a growing trend, as people want access to health care services that are more affordable, convenient and quick. The concept of retail health care clinics is being driven by the current state of the national health care system, consumer choice health care plans, health savings plans (HSAs), health reimbursement accounts (HRAs), the uninsured and the declining accessibility to a primary care physician as the population ages. Retail health care clinics usually are located inside or near other retail center locations where consumers shop and work.

I am excited to be affiliated with MedExpress and its new health care concept. This concept provides convenient accessibility to quality basic health care at an affordable price," says, Dr. Fred Merrill III, one of the medical directors for MedExpress.

Like other retail health clinics, MedExpress is staffed by nurse practitioners and supervised by medical directors who are local physicians. Nurse practitioners are highly trained registered nurses with advanced academic and clinical experience. They are authorized to diagnose, and treat common illnesses as well as write appropriate medication prescriptions.

Phil McElhaney, founder of MedExpress, first came into contact with a nurse practitioner while seeking urgent care for his wife during a holiday weekend vacation.

"Both my wife and I were impressed by the care she received. I wanted to bring convenient, basic health care to the community at an affordable price," says McElhaney. "We're not an urgent care facility or an emergency department, however, our scope of services is very focused. If a patient's condition is outside that scope, we refer him or her to an appropriate health care professional. MedExpress works as a complement, not a replacement, to the relationship our customers should have with a regular doctor. If a patient doesn't have a regular doctor, we help them get one."

MedExpress is open seven days a week and on most holidays. Patients are diagnosed and treated in an expeditious time frame without long wait times. Extended evening hours and an on-site pharmacy are added conveniences for patients. And patients know exactly what the cost will be for their care before treatment is provided.

MedExpress services and prices are posted clearly for patients. Costs range on average from $49 to $59, which is considerably less than a doctor's visit, urgent care center, or emergency room visit. To keep costs low for all patients, MedExpress does not accept health insurance. As an added convenience, MedExpress health professionals also can visit a patient's home, as well as business or corporate sites to provide services.
